PENDLETON, KY  – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 5 in Campbellsburg is investigating after two vehicles, including one heavy-duty truck, were stolen in Henry County.

The first vehicle was located after being wrecked and abandoned in Henry County. At approximately 12:35 p.m., KSP Post 5 dispatch received a call indicating that the second vehicle, a stolen heavy-duty truck was located driving near Pendleton.

Troopers from Post 5 located the vehicle, still in Henry County, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.  The operator of the vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued.  The pursuit traveled along multiple roads and eventually crossed into Oldham County, toward Lagrange.  During the pursuit, a deputy’s vehicle was struck by the fleeing truck. Post 5 troopers attempted to deploy a tire deflation device, which is designed to deflate a vehicle’s tires in a controlled manner to safely and effectively slow or end a vehicle pursuit, however, this attempt was unsuccessful.

As the pursuit continued, a trooper’s vehicle was struck by the fleeing vehicle.  As the pursuit approached the city limits of Lagrange, a second attempt was made to deploy a tire deflation device, and was successful at deflating at least one of the fleeing vehicle’s tires. The fleeing truck turned onto Main Street in Lagrange and proceeded to strike numerous parked (unoccupied) vehicles before coming to a stop.  The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot a short distance before a successful Taser deployment ended the foot pursuit.

The subject was taken into custody without further incident, and identified as a 15-year-old male from Henry County. The male juvenile had been reported as a missing person the day before.

No injuries were reported during or as a result of this incident, and the investigation remains ongoing by KSP Post 5 Troopers.
