Child Exploitation Indictment of Frankfort, Kentucky Man

FRANKFORT, KY – Attorney General Russell Coleman and Franklin County Commonwealth's Attorney Larry Cleveland announced today that joint action between the Attorney General's Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office resulted in the indictment of William David Orias, 53, of Frankfort, for possession or viewing of child sexual abuse material.

On June 4, 2024, a Franklin County Grand Jury indicted Orias for 30 counts of Possession or Viewing of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor under the age of 18 (Class D Felony) and 8 counts of Possession or Viewing of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor under the age of 12 (Class C Felony).

DCI's Special Victims Unit investigated the case. The Franklin County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office presented the case before the grand jury on behalf of the Commonwealth.

The Kentucky Supreme Court's rule on trial publicity limits information the Office can provide publicly.

The charges in an indictment are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
