ECST Investigation Leads to Arrest, Seizure of Firearms in Portland, Oregon

PORTLAND, OR - The Portland Police Bureau is reporting that a shooting investigation has resulted in the arrest of an adult male on felony charges and the seizure of several firearms.

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a shooting in the 8600 block of North Lombard Street. When they arrived, officers located three spent casings. In addition, officers located three people who reported being menaced by a suspect who fired three rounds into the ground.

The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) picked up the investigation and identified a suspect, Lindell D. Betts, 39, of Portland.

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, ECST, with the assistance of the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), served a search warrant at a home in the 9500 block of North Lombard Street. ECST found three firearms inside the home. The team also located Betts and arrested him. He was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center and lodged on the following charges: Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
