Kentucky AG Coleman along with 17 other Attorney Generals call to Audit EPA

FRANKFORT, KY – Attorney General Russell Coleman called on Congress to pass legislation that would shine a much-needed spotlight on how the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is spending taxpayer dollars and hampering Kentucky energy producers.

"Kentuckians are facing enough challenges right now with historic inflation, violent crime and deadly drugs pouring into our country. Instead of focusing on these pressing issues, the Biden Administration and its EPA have spent billions to come after Kentucky's affordable and reliable energy and advance a radical green agenda. It's time to audit the EPA and its oppressive regulatory assault," said Attorney General Coleman.

The EPA has used its swelling budget to target Kentucky, threatening to raise costs, undermine grid reliability, and increase utility bills. Attorney General Coleman has vigorously fought against the Biden Administration's radical green agenda. He has challenged the EPA's regulations to shut down coal and natural gas power plants, its EV mandates, and its unnecessary air quality rules.

In the 2024 legislative session, the Kentucky General Assembly established a $3 million Electric Reliability Defense Fund, empowering Attorney General Coleman to continue protecting Kentucky families from the EPA's worst abuses.

Attorney General Coleman joined the West Virginia-led letter, along with attorneys general from Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Virginia.
