Louisiana State Police Requested to Investigate St. James Parish Murder-Suicide

ST. JAMES PARISH, LA – On November 13, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Louisiana State Police Region 1 Criminal Investigations Division (LSP CID) was requested by the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office (SJPSO) to investigate a murder-suicide that occurred in Convent, LA. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Gonzales Police Department (GPD) and Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) were involved in a vehicle pursuit that ended in St. James Parish. After the pursuit, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old male, sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.  Additionally, there was a 1-year-old child who was a passenger in the vehicle who suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

LSP CID will serve as the lead investigating agency, and SJPSO will assist. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
