Seattle, WA - The Seattle Police Department (SPD) reports that Harborview Medical Center has confirmed that despite all lifesaving efforts, the 17-year-old victim of a shooting on Thursday, June 6 at Garfield High School succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Seattle Police detectives are investigating the Thursday afternoon shooting at Garfield High School.
At 12:30 p.m., Thursday afternoon June 6, 2024 SPD patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 400 block of 23rd Avenue South and located a 17-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police provided medical aid until the Seattle Fire Department arrived on scene and continued treatment. The male was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Officers determined that an altercation took place on school grounds prior to the shooting. The high school aged male suspect fled the scene and was not located.
Police cordoned off the area until Seattle Police Homicide Detectives arrived.
